Losing for disconnect

So, as is common, i lost connectivity at the beginning of a tournament and by the time I could reconnect I was 30 points down, obviously having been booted/timed out.

Would the PP team please consider addressing this type of situation? The game is already able to detect the connectivity loss as it shows the popup notification “trying to reconnect”, how difficult would it be to make it so if someone is disconnected they don’t automatically lose points?

I do see a challenge with abuse of this sort of fix, say for example some loser shutting off their Internet rather than lose, but there’s probably a good way to handle this type of situation without compromising the game integrity.

Thanks

Maybe I can help, as I’ re-connected several times.
What steps did you take to re-connect?

Closed the program, launched it again, wouldn’t connect, closed it again, launched it again, greeted with the usual -30 points

That explains your problem!

You have lost your communication pathway to your current PP game. On PP you were placed in sit-out mode waiting for your return. The sit-out time is over 6 minutes.
You need to erase the current communication path / link and establish a new link…

Reset you console and restart PP. When you log-on you will be given menu selections that will take you back to your game (if it’s still active)

Thanks, John. I knew that I’d timed out by the time I’d reconnected. What I was asking about was the possibility of PP recognizing that the timeout was directly related to my connectivity loss (since it was already detected as the popup message notified me it was trying to reconnect,) and somehow spare the player the loss of points since the timeout was directly related to the already detected disconnect.

It’d be a tricky thing to engineer because of the potential for abuse.

BTW, there still exists the same error I’ve reported multiple times, where I see the “Clairvoyant” message instead of the “Oops” after throwing away what would have been the winning hand. I wonder if the PP mods here have even reported it or if nobody cares. This bug has been around for over a year now.

Thank you.

I was once told by Poker Starts that my signal had gone through 22 servers to get from Washington state to their site on an island off the north coast of Ireland. And from game to game, I never used the same sequence of servers

PP doesn’t have a clue where the disconnect is. Nor does it know how to find you.

99.5% of the time the disconnect is between your controller and your internet provider’s first junction box outside your home, and has nothing to do with servers.

I do understand the network servers, and you’re also correct that the disconnect was likely my ISP, although not the junction box (they were doing maintenance), I was just wondering if the app could detect the disconnect if they’d consider removing the penalty. No big deal I suppose, it’s just annoying. Not PP’s issue but one can dream and ask. Thank you, John

Before PP, Pipeworks had a poker game called WSOP Full House Pro. It ran on a Microsoft server and and an older model Xbox… It didn’t have ranked games, or a sit-out option .
Not bad for a free game,

Yeah. Plus it has the best environment of any poker game. I think I finally played you in a ranked game once, did you notice? I tried buying you a drink but you didn’t have anything on the table so it was asking me to buy the item.

Thanks kind thoughts. I used to have a Whiskey sour at the table but PP had me drinking so much that I got rid of it to see if it would improve my game, :grinning:
