# Losing the button

I don’t believe this has been brought up. If there is an open seat to your direct left and it fills after you’ve paid your blinds and are due to be the button, the new player will inherit your button! Sure the other options for the new player in that situation would not be great in a real game(sit out another hand or pay both sb and bb) but no one should not have the button skip over them after paying the blinds.
